Bring Back Common Sense: Think Before You Click
Written by

Common sense used to be standard issue. Lately it feels like a rare superpower. We’ve got infinite microphones, infinite feeds, and somehow… fewer functioning filters. If loud counted as correct, we’d be living in utopia. We’re not.
Burst the bubble: Convenience killed curiosity. We traded thinking for scrolling and called it “being informed.”
The Critical-Thought Crash
Headlines replace research. Memes replace sources. Confidence replaces competence. An influencer whispers, “try this,” and a million people sprint. When did we stop asking, Does this even make sense?
Volume ≠ Truth
The algorithm rewards outrage, not accuracy. The loudest isn’t the wisest; they’re just optimized for clicks. Certainty without evidence is cosplay.
The Allergy to Being Wrong
Admitting error is intelligence in motion. Doubling down on nonsense is ego on stilts. If new facts don’t change your mind, you’re not thinking—you’re branding.
Feeds That Melt Your Brain
TikTok challenges that could hospitalize you. “News” pages that think NASA is lying but cousin Bill is not. If your info diet is junk, your decisions will be, too.
Basic Self-Sufficiency Is a Flex Now
A dead phone shouldn’t make you useless. Learn to cook, change a tire, read a map, talk to a human. Tools should empower you, not parent you.
Life Lesson
Skepticism saves you. Before you share, spend 60 seconds verifying: source, date, expert consensus. If it fails the sniff test, it fails you.
The Stupidbubble Common-Sense Code (run this weekly)
- Think > React: Count to five before posting, purchasing, or piling on.
- Source Check: Who said it? When? What do credible experts say?
- Reality Reps: Do one offline task daily (cook, repair, plan a route).
- Opinion Tax: For every strong take, read one opposing view end-to-end.
- Attention Audit: Unfollow three low-signal accounts. Add one high-signal source.
- Go Outside: Touch the grass and a library card. Both calibrate your brain.
Everybody has a stupidbubble. Some stay trapped. Some break it. We turn ours into power.
Bottom line: Bring back curiosity. Bring back caution. Bring back common sense.
